Eye liner is one of those makeup products that not all women dare to wear. Liners can be a little intimidating because not every one knows which ones to use or how to apply them. Here’s a little run-down on what to expect from each eye liner formula:
Pencil eye liner – Pencil liners are the most common and the most versatile eye liners. These are great for every day looks. They’re also the easiest to apply. You simply draw a thin line along your upper lash line from the middle to the outer edge. Use a cotton swab to blend.
Shadow eye liner – Any deep eyeshadow shade can be used as an excellent liner. We recommend trying black, dark grey, deep chocolate brown, plum or navy blue. The trick to using any shade as an eye liner is all in the brush. Use a small, flat angle brush and use the flat edge to apply the dark shadow close to your upper lash line. If you want, you can apply a bit to the outer edge of your lower lash line as well. Shadow liners will give you a soft, blended, natural look. You can also layer on more liner and smudge it to create a smokey eye makeup look.
Liquid eye liner – This liner is more dramatic and daring. Liquid liners will give you a more precise line, but they are more difficult to apply and have less room for error. Pencil and shadow liners can be blended and smudged after application. Liquid liners need to be applied carefully to ensure the right finish is achieved. You’ll definitely want to practice if you’re trying a liquid formula for the first time.
